John C. Beary age 96, a former Clarion area resident, passed away peacefully at his home in Columbiana, Ohio on September 24, 2023.

John was born February 3, 1927, the third son of John and Theresa (Schill) Beary in Millerstown, PA.

Having been born at the beginning of a very tumultuous time in American history, like so many of his generation, John had many colorful stories of his childhood and early adult life.

He was married to Gloria Shingledecker of Clarion and had two daughters, Charlotte and Angela.

It was about this time he owned and ran the Fairgrounds Amoco in Clarion along with dispatching for many of the mobile home companies that had sprung up in the area.

On October 23, 1959, he married his life partner, the former Nancy Ann Wynkoop.

They spent the next 52 years living, loving, and laughing together.

They moved to the Youngstown, Ohio area in 1960 and settled in Columbiana in 1972.

They had three children, Kimberly, John and Joseph.

John often said that his favorite place was behind the wheel of his big rig.

Being a trucker was his second true love.

Even though his occupation called for him to be gone from Sunday night till Saturday morning, he was devoted to his family.

John instilled in all of his children the value of being dependable, honest, hard-working, kind, sincere and forthright people.

He taught by example.

All of his children’s friends could count on Mr. Beary to fix anything and everything.

John was a storyteller.

He loved to tell stories from his childhood, his experiences from traveling coast to coast in his big rig, and to tell a joke or 2 to anyone who would listen or to those who he thought needed a good laugh.

He is survived by Charlotte (Kenneth) Clark of Charlotte, MI, Angela (David) Carmoney of Potterville, MI, John (Leslie) of Marion, OH and Joseph of Columbiana, OH.

He leaves his grandchildren, Wade, Karie, William, Teresa, Adam, Maisie, Duncan, Callie and Ella.

Great grandchildren Haylie, Cooper, Wyatt, Aaron, Emily and Abbie.

And Bambie, his grand fur baby.

John leaves his brother, Henry (Rita) Beary and sisters, Abbie (James) Porterfied and Donna Girts, brother-in-law Bob Wyncoop and sisters-in-law, Joan Beary and Katie Burns.

John was preceded in death by his mother and father.

His wife, Nancy and daughter, Kimberly.

Brothers, Virgil, Lloyd, Keith, Lawrence, Dennis and his sister, Ruth.

His first wife, Gloria (Shingledecker) Senard.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 10 to 11am at St. Michael Church in Fryburg ( 18765 PA-208, Fryburg, PA 16326 ).
