Vehicle Fishtails, Crashes into Utility Pole After Entering Run-Off Water on Roadway

SLIGO BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — A Jeep fishtailed and crashed into a utility pole after entering run-off water on the roadway in Sligo Borough late Saturday evening.

According to Clarion-based State Police, the crash happened around 11:54 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, on Madison Street Extension (State Route 58), in Sligo Borough, Clarion County.

Police say a 2004 Jeep Liberty driven by 28-year-old Austin J. Robinson, of Parker, failed to negotiate a left curve after entering run-off water on the roadway.

According to police, Robinson was unable to get the vehicle under control after hitting the moving water and began to fishtail. The vehicle was unable to avoid impact with a utility pole located on the right berm of the roadway.

Robinson was using a seat belt and was not injured.

The Jeep was disabled as a result of the crash

Police were assisted on scene by Sligo Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. and Rustler Towing.
