Area Woman Scammed into Sending Nearly $1K of Pre-Paid Cards

FINDLEY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Authorities say an area woman was swindled out of nearly $1,000.00 in an online scam.

According to Mercer-based State Police, a victim reported an internet scam through the Poshmark App at 12:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, near Church Road in Findley Township, Mercer County.

Police say the victim was selling an item and was new to the application when a buyer messaged her on the app inquiring about the item she was selling.

The buyer then sent the victim a link via email stating that they needed security deposits since she was new to the application.

According to police, the victim was scammed into sending them $999.00 worth of pre-paid cards online in order to sell her item.

The victim is a 31-year-old Mercer woman.
