An evening of live music, food, and family activities will lead up to the premiere of “Movies on Main Street” during Oil City’s First Fridays celebration on August 5.

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — Oil City’s Northside will host a First Fridays event on August 1, featuring live music and the premiere of the new “Movies on Main Street” series.
The event is presented by First Fridays, the OC Business Association, Arts Oil City, and the Oil City Arts Council, with a full schedule of activities from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The festivities will include local artists and crafters, food, and family-friendly activities.
Oil City Main Street’s Music on the Square is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will feature the Wyllis Street Band. After the performance, the first outdoor Movie on Main will premiere with a showing of “Minecraft: The Movie.” The organizers of the event indicate that free popcorn will be provided.
Seneca Street will be closed to traffic from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for the event. Attendees can meet artists in the Transit Building, Tagg, in the MAC, and along the streets.
Event organizers say the fun will begin at 5:00 p.m., with the band taking the stage at 7:00 p.m. Local businesses such as the Oil City Elks and Double Pay are expected to have extended hours. Visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair to set up in the park before walking the closed streets.
