Police Release Name of Man Accused of Attempting to Drown Cat

SherriffOIL CITY, Pa. – An Oil City man is accused of torturing a cat.

Oil City Police Chief Robert Wenner said officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of Crawford and Gay Streets on Sunday around 8:57 p.m.

Upon investigating, police discovered that David Joseph Krawlec, Oil City, had allegedly trapped a cat in a raccoon trap and was sin the process of drowning it in a garbage can filled with water.

Police said a neighbor foiled Krawlec’s plans and interfered after hearing the cat crying.

The neighbor then called Oil City Police.

Police said the cat was transported to Happy Trails Animal Shelter for treatment.

Cruelty to Animals charges were filed through District Magistrate Dinberg’s office.
